An estimated 450 people gathered at Province Park in Franklin for our 8th annual
Jack’s Walk for Autism on Sunday, October 2.
Families enjoyed a beautiful day in the park with games, food and entertainment. The day also created a sense of community and anopportunity for families to talk to others and share similar stories.
The event raised over $10,000. The funds will be used primarily to fund our summer day camp—Camp Can Do and support our Fall Festival, Breakfast with Santa, Autism Awareness Celebration and other social events. It also allows us to financially support programs in our area such as Camp Ability, the Gateway Transition Program and Project Lifesaver.

The idea for Jack’s Walk came about in 2004. After her son Jack was diagnosed with autism, Sheila Benham and her neighbor, Emily Wood, decided to have a walk to fund a Johnson County support group. The first walk was held in October ’04 and was a great success.
The money we raised this year will primarily fund our summer program, Camp Can Do. It will also allow us to host our Fall Festival, Breakfast with Santa, Autism Awareness Celebration and other social events. Additionally, we will continue to support programs in our area such as Camp Ability and Project Lifesaver.
